Apple unveils limited-edition Apple Watch band honoring Black History Month
Apple already offers one of the widest selections of bands for its smartwatches — ranging from sporty to premium options. Now, the company has expanded its lineup with a new band released in celebration of Black History Month.
Apple officially announced the Apple Watch Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop — a limited-edition band created to honor Black History Month and centered around the themes of unity and connection. The new band is available to order now through Apple’s online store and the Apple Store app, with availability in Apple retail locations coming later this week. It’s priced at $99.
The Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes, with band sizing options from 0 to 12. It is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and later, Apple Watch SE models, and all Apple Watch Ultra versions, although only the 46mm size is available for the Ultra.
Like earlier accessories in the Black Unity collection, this band was designed by Black Apple employees. Visually, it follows the tradition inspired by the Pan-African flag, weaving red, green, and black hues into an intricate pattern.

For manufacturing, Apple uses a precise weaving technique where recycled polyester yarn is wrapped around ultra-thin silicone fibers. The result is a soft, stretchy band with a subtle texture, comfortable enough for all-day wear. It’s also sweat- and water-resistant, making it practical for workouts and everyday use.
At first glance, the color palette may seem simple, but closer inspection reveals varied shades within each color. This adds depth and makes the band visually more dynamic compared to solid-color options.
Alongside the launch of this new accessory, Apple reaffirmed its support for organizations working in creativity, education, and empowerment in underserved communities. The company highlighted grants awarded to groups like Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Urban Arts in New York, Youth Music in London, the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, and Enactus México in Mexico City.
Apple says these initiatives are part of a long-term strategy to expand economic, educational, and creative opportunities worldwide. The release of the Unity Connection band carries a significance far beyond just launching a new accessory.
For Apple fans, the Black Unity band series has become something of an annual tradition. Each release features a new visual style, with previous editions named Unity Bloom and Unity Rhythm. The 2026 Unity Connection continues this series and is sure to appeal to collectors. Importantly, this isn’t just a symbolic release: the Braided Solo Loop is considered one of the most comfortable and premium Apple Watch bands, making this release both meaningful and practical.
It’s also worth noting that you don’t need the latest Apple Watch model to use the band. Its broad compatibility allows owners of older Apple Watches to easily refresh the look of their devices.
