Kia’s electric Kia EV5 has been turned into a Weekender concept

Kia has revealed an experimental modification of its EV5 electric crossover called the Weekender at the Guangzhou Motor Show. The concept was created as a vehicle for relaxing outdoor recreation and short trips out of town.

The exterior of the EV5 Weekender features matte gray exterior styling and lettuce highlighted front bumper elements styled to look like towing lugs. The standard dark gray overlays on the arches and sills are replaced by larger ones, as the car is fitted with high-profile tires with a pronounced off-road pattern. The ground clearance of the Weekender version is about one and a half times higher than that of the production EV5. There are wide, massive roof rails and a perforated metal panel on the driver’s side rear pillar to hold camping gear.
The interior emphasizes the show car’s showy nature: the seats are unusually shaped with slits in the backrests, the interior is decorated in a gray-salach color scheme, and the trim elements echo the shapes of hexagons and octagons.

There are practical solutions in the cabin. A wide multimedia display is located in front of the passenger on the right, while a compact screen with basic data is mounted in front of the driver. In the trunk there are rails on the principle of a workbench – on them you can attach accessories for transportation. An identical system is located on the ceiling.
The EV5 Weekender’s tech is the same as the production EV5: the model is available with front- or all-wheel drive with 218 hp and 313 hp, respectively, and packs a battery capacity of 60.2 to 88.1 kWh.
