The writer of the Red Dead Redemption series has left Rockstar after 16 years of work

Red Dead Redemption series creator Michael Unsworth has announced his departure from Rockstar Games after 16 years with the company. As noted by GTAForums user Rucke, Unsworth recently updated his LinkedIn profile, announcing his departure from the company.

The former scripting director has worked on all of Rockstar’s major releases over the past 16 years. Notably, he is one of three story writers on both Red Dead Redemption games. Unsworth is also credited with writing dialog for Grand Theft Auto V and IV, Max Payne 3, LA Noire, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and others.

Rockstar Games, now in its 24th year of operation, has experienced several high-profile departures in recent years. In 2020, veteran Grand Theft Auto writer and producer Lazlow Jones left the company. Jones worked on the series for nearly 20 years, best known for creating dialogue for character and satirical radio stations, as well as hosting GTA V’s «Chattersphere» and «Fame or Shame» programs.
However, Jones has also left the company.
