Changan plans to bring the X5 Plus crossover to the Russian market, which was previously considered as the basis for the Volga K30 model. The project to resurrect the Volga brand has been put on hold, and the SUV will now appear under the Chinese brand.

According to the portal “Chinese Cars”, the Chinese company Changan is going to introduce in Russia the X5 Plus model – a rival of the future Lada Azimut crossover. Previously, the X5 Plus was planned to be produced as Volga K30, but the project was frozen for an indefinite period.

Model Specifications and Features
The Changan X5 Plus crossover is not an entirely new model. It was first introduced in 2022 under Oshan, a subsidiary brand of Changan. Since 2024, the SUV has been sold under the Changan nameplate.
The model is aimed at a youthful audience. The car measures 4,540 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height. Wheelbase is 2715 mm. The design includes independent suspension: front – MacPherson struts, rear – multi-lever scheme.
A 1.5-liter turbo engine with an output of 188 hp and 300 N-m of torque is installed under the hood. The powertrain works in tandem with a seven-speed dual-clutch wet-clutch robot. Drive is front-wheel drive.
Prices and market outlook
In China, the Changan X5 Plus is available from 90,000 yuan – that’s about one million rubles at the current exchange rate. In the Russian market, the model can strengthen the brand’s position in the segment of mid-size urban crossovers. This is the segment where the Lada Azimut crossover will enter in 2026.
