A remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces is in development at Nightdive Studios. The developer, which specializes in remastering old games and improving the look and performance, plans to support resolutions up to 4K and 120 frames per second, depending on the platform.

So far, it’s not just a game that’s being remastered.

Nightdive says the game will feature «improved 3D rendering, support for modern gamepads, trophies and achievements, and more». The game will be called Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered and will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC. No release date has been announced yet, but Nightdive said the announcement will take place later this year.

An announcement is expected to come later this year.

Star Wars: Dark Forces was released on PC in 1995 and is one of the best «Star Wars» games of that era. In the game, players control Kyle Katarn, hired by the Rebel Alliance, who undertakes a series of missions to help them fight against the Empire.

The game was praised at the time for its action, as well as for introducing a number of gameplay elements that were rare for FPS games at the time, including the ability to dodge, jump, swim, and look around.
