Turok 3 will get a 4K remaster

Retro remaster developers Nightdive Studios have announced that they are going to release a remaster of Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion. Nightdive previously released a remaster of the original Turok: Dinosaur Hunter game on PC in 2015, and in 2017 — a remaster of its sequel Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. Both remasters were released on Xbox One in 2018, Switch in 2019, and PS4 in 2021.

The Turok 3 remaster will release simultaneously on all platforms: It’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 14. According to Nightdive, the remaster will run on the proprietary KEX engine used to create previous remasters.

Depending on the platform, the game will be playable at resolutions up to 4K and 120 frames per second. In addition, there will be «updated gameplay, high-resolution textures, improved lighting and rendering, and support for console gamepads with platform-specific features».

Console features include optional gyroscope motion control on Switch and trophies/achievements on Xbox, PlayStation and Steam. In Turok 3, players will have to choose the role of Joseph or Daniel, the siblings of the second game’s protagonist Joshua. After Joshua’s death, the chosen character becomes the new Turok and must save the universe from being destroyed by a monstrous entity called Oblivion.
