Ford raises Mustang Mach-E prices because of Trump’s tariffs

Ford will officially raise prices on its Mustang Mach-E electric crossover and Maverick compact pickup truck by up to $2,000. The reason is new import duties imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on cars made in Mexico. This is reported by Reuters, citing sources in the company.

The price hikes are creating additional pressure on automakers, especially since Ford is already suffering multibillion-dollar losses as it scales its electric car business. The threat of eliminating the $7,500 federal tax credit for EV buyers, which both Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson have hinted at, could further complicate matters.

The company recently said the new duties will add $2.5 billion to its costs by the end of 2025. General Motors estimates the potential losses at $5 billion.

Ford has not yet made an official comment on the price increase. However, it’s already clear that the change in tariff policy could affect the competitiveness of U.S. brand electric cars, especially amid growing competition from Tesla and Chinese manufacturers.
