Samsung has unveiled the new Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic watches

Samsung Electronics announced the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic, new wearable devices that help users form and follow healthy habits throughout the day and even at night. The Galaxy Watch6 devices combine high performance, features to track overall fitness parameters, and stylish design encapsulated in a slim bezel, large bright display and interactive interface. Both models offer almost limitless customization possibilities with different watch faces and new interchangeable straps.

The Galaxy Watch6 series provides detailed data on overall physical condition, as well as important recommendations that allow users to monitor their well-being 24/7. Since self-care begins with proper rest, Watch6 will help users form healthy sleep patterns. To do so, it suggests focusing on three key elements: analyze sleep quality, form new healthy habits, and create a restful environment.

With advanced features for monitoring sleep parameters and overall body health, the Galaxy Watch6 offers in-depth analysis of sleep metrics – its duration, the length of different sleep cycles, wake-up times, and the body’s physical and psychological recovery. And personalized sleep messages, developed in partnership with the National Sleep Foundation, give users a detailed report on sleep quality each morning. In addition, Galaxy Watch6 analyzes data on the consistency of sleep habits and, based on that analysis, displays the sleeping animal emblem that best reflects the user’s sleep type.

The advanced Sleep Coaching feature leverages your nightly rest data to create instructions and reminders based on it, which are available both on wearable devices and on the smartwatch itself. When it’s time to go to bed, Galaxy Watch6 will help create the perfect atmosphere by turning on sleep mode on your smartphone and adjusting your home electronics settings. In sleep mode, notifications are turned off, screens are dimmed, and the wearable device’s sensors operate in invisible infrared to read health readings without disturbing the wearer.

The fitness features on the Galaxy Watch6 have become even more personalized and truly motivate users while exercising. The body composition measurement feature analyzes skeletal muscle mass, basal metabolic rate, water content and body fat percentage to build a detailed picture of the user’s body condition and fitness. Based on the data, Galaxy Watch6 helps the user set personalized goals and track progress, as well as recommend appropriate workouts and provide nutritional advice developed with partner Whisk.

The new Personalized Heart Rate Zones feature analyzes the user’s physical capabilities and determines five optimal levels of exercise intensity. This allows you to set activity level goals ranging from fat-burning to high-intensity exercise based on your individual physical capabilities. In addition to more than 90 existing exercises, the devices include new Track Run modes for stadium-style runs, and Custom Workout lets you create and track personalized exercise programs.

In addition to the blood pressure monitoring and ECG measurement features already found on wearable devices, the Galaxy Watch6 supports HR Alert technology to track abnormally high or low heart rate in the background. The fall detection feature will instantly detect if the user falls – while exercising, standing still or even while sleeping if the user accidentally falls out of bed. As soon as a fall is detected, the device will automatically alert emergency services or pre-selected emergency contacts of loved ones.

The Galaxy Watch6 series makes wearable devices even better – with updated design, high performance and a wide range of customizable options³. 

Writing is made easier with a 20% larger display. It has a larger keyboard, and more text can fit on it. The high-resolution³ screen also boasts 2,000 nits of brightness and an Always On Display brightness adjustment feature that helps maintain readability even in direct sunlight. A new processor and increased memory are responsible for a smoother and faster interaction with the Galaxy Watch6.

Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic frame bezels 30 percent and 15 percent thinner than previous generations of wearable devices, which emphasizes their elegance. The Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic also support stylish, interactive and informative new watch faces that make the most of the large display, and straps that can be changed in one motion.

Maximum functionality right on your wrist

The Galaxy Watch6 series offers a wide range of features for every user. The updated Samsung Wallet service combines Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass functions to combine bank cards, ID cards, event tickets, boarding passes and other documents. Advanced gesture control makes it convenient and easy to interact with the device by placing app shortcuts on the screen for quick access without touching.

With the WhatsApp app, Galaxy Watch users can stay in touch with friends and family without a phone in hand. This fall, wearable device owners will have new opportunities to be productive with Google Calendar and Gmail, which will only be available on Wear OS, and with the imminent launch of Audible, the streaming service will also open up. In addition, with the introduction of the Skin Temperature API – one of the components of Samsung’s Privileged Health suite for developers – partners will be able to utilize an advanced infrared sensor for accurate measurements in the new services. The interface is already being used in the new Thermo Check app, so you can measure the temperature of your favorite meal or even the temperature of the ocean before you go swimming.

Even more of the Galaxy Watch6’s capabilities are revealed when connected to other devices. With the updated Remote Camera Control feature, users can remotely adjust modes, angles and zoom on the Galaxy Z Flip5. Samsung Smart TV or Galaxy Tab S9 allows users to monitor their performance in real time and on a larger screen with the sports and mindfulness app (in Samsung Health). Galaxy Buds2 Pro owners can also quickly switch headphones between devices using the Auto Switch feature. And if the user accidentally loses their smartphone, the wearable device can help find it with Find My Phone and map support.

Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic are available for pre-order in select markets starting July 26, and worldwide starting August 11.
