Pokemon GO will feature user-created routes in Pokemon GO

Niantic has announced that user-created routes will be coming to Pokemon Go. The new feature will allow players to create virtual walking routes around neighborhoods. If other players use these routes, they’ll receive rewards.

Routes will start at a single Pokestop, and players will walk to one or more to create a route. Players won’t need to keep their phone open to create a route, which opens up the possibility for long walks and hikes along the route.

As part of the routes launch, new special explorations will become available, with Zygarde making its debut. On these routes, players will be able to find Zigard’s cells — the components that make up the pokémon. As part of the special research quests, players can meet a fully formed Zigard.

The Pokemon Go game recently celebrated its seventh anniversary, which saw the return of beloved Pokémon, including the brilliant Mew, to the game. Niantic, the company that created the Pokemon Go game, has had a rough year, reportedly closing its Los Angeles studio and laying off more than 200 employees.
