Activision will close the original Call of Duty: Warzone

Activision is closing the original Call of Duty: Warzone at the end of this year, it has been confirmed. According to Activision, Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera will be closed as of September 21, 2023, «as teams focus on future Call of Duty content, including the current free-to-play Warzone».

Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera — is a renamed version of the original Warzone, launching alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2020. After the release of Warzone 2.0 last November, the original Warzone was renamed «Caldera» after its last map.

Players could continue to play matches with the original design and features of the first battle royale, if they so wished. Importantly, they could also access all the skins and weapons they had purchased or unlocked in the three premium CoD games that were not compatible with Warzone 2.0.

On Thursday, Activision noted that players will be able to access purchased content in Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard multiplayer modes after Caldera closes.
