Samsung Galaxy S25+ with Exynos 2500 loses to Snapdragon 8 Elite in performance

Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S25 series, slated for early 2025, presumably in January. The Galaxy S25 Ultra model will likely feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, while the standard Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ models could get other chipsets, including Samsung’s MediaTek Dimensity 9400 or Samsung’s own Exynos 2500.

On Geekbench, testing of the Galaxy S25+ with the Exynos 2500 chip, labeled under model number SM-S936B for the European market, was recently reported. In the performance test, the device scored 2,359 points in single-core mode and 8,141 points in multi-core mode. The configuration includes 12GB of RAM and runs on Android 15, which gives an indication of the model’s performance.

The Exynos 2500 chipset features a 10-core architecture up to 3.3GHz and a Xclipse 950 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA architecture, which should improve graphics performance. Overall, the Exynos 2500’s performance in multi-core mode is close to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but it’s significantly inferior in single-core mode, which could affect speed in resource-intensive tasks such as gaming and video shooting at high resolution or frame rates.
For comparison, the Galaxy S25 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor scored 3,096 points for single-core and 9,080 points for multi-core performance. In real-world conditions, the Exynos chip may show lower performance in tasks that require high power.

It’s important to note, however, that benchmarks only show short-term results and don’t always reflect real-world performance, as manufacturers can tweak devices to optimize results in tests. The true performance of the Galaxy S25 will only be evaluated after the devices official launch, which is expected in January 2025.
