Nvidia asks for urgent GPU driver updates due to critical vulnerabilities

Nvidia has warned users to urgently update their graphics card drivers due to the discovery of eight critical vulnerabilities.

Wccftech reports that these vulnerabilities affect Nvidia products such as GeForce, RTX, Quadro, NVS and Tesla, and if left unaddressed, could allow attackers to gain unauthorized access to users’ computers.

According to Wccftech, these vulnerabilities affect Nvidia products such as GeForce, RTX, Quadro, NVS and Tesla, and if left unpatched, could allow attackers to gain unauthorized access to users’ PCs.

The issues discovered include two main types of vulnerabilities. The first could allow a privileged attacker to elevate their permissions, which gives more access to the system. The second vulnerability affects the user layer of the driver and allows normal users (without privileges) to invoke operations outside of permissions, which could lead to unauthorized data reads.

Nvidia says such vulnerabilities can be exploited for remote code execution, denial of service, privilege escalation, information leakage and even data modification.

Users are advised to update drivers immediately by downloading them from the official Nvidia Driver Downloads page or through programs such as GeForce Experience, which also provide access to driver updates.
