Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A16 5G a couple of weeks ago, but there was no mention of a 4G-enabled version. However, now it too has been officially unveiled. Samsung has issued a press release in which it calls the Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A16 5G “smartphones that will stand the test of time”. That’s because both models will be supported for 6 years – this includes operating system updates as well as security patches.

Samsung Galaxy A16 (4G) is almost identical to its 5G sibling – it has a 6.7-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging support, 50+5+2 MP cameras on the back and 13 MP on the front. All of this is housed in a 7.9mm thick body, which is now IP54 rated for dust and water resistance.

Samsung Galaxy A16 4G uses the same chipset as its predecessor, the A15 4G – Mediatek Helio G99. The smartphone gets 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card slot up to 1TB. There’s no mention of a 3.5mm headphone jack, so there probably won’t be one.

Sales of the smartphone will start in November.
