Samsung officially confirms smart glasses launch in 2026
For months, rumors have circulated about Samsung developing smart glasses, but the company hadn’t confirmed a release timeline-until now.
Samsung has officially announced plans to roll out wearable devices in this category, including augmented reality (AR) glasses, slated for release in 2026.
Last year, Samsung took a significant step into AR/XR territory with the launch of its Galaxy XR headset. It was then revealed that the company is working on at least two different smart glasses models, one of which will offer augmented reality capabilities.
During its Q4 2025 earnings report, Son Cho, executive vice president of Samsung’s Mobile Experiences division, confirmed that smart glasses would debut in 2026. He emphasized that Samsung is focusing on developing multimodal AI features powered by “next-generation smart glasses with augmented reality.”

According to earlier leaks, at least one model could include a 12-megapixel camera, a 155 mAh battery, and a Qualcomm AR1 chipset. The Gemini system is expected to play a crucial role in enabling AI features.
Details remain scarce on the fully AR-capable glasses, which are expected to launch shortly after a simpler version resembling Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. Samsung has yet to disclose the exact release date for the first model.
Since the year still has plenty of runway, the arrival of Samsung smart glasses will likely require some patience. Much will depend on how Samsung schedules these new devices alongside its usual lineup: early in the year traditionally focuses on the Galaxy S26 series and mid-range phones, while foldable smartphones typically arrive in the second half.
* Ray-Ban is a Meta-owned brand, which is recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia.
