Pentax has released the Pentax 17 semi-format film camera

Pentax has released a new camera, the Pentax 17, designed for shooting on 35mm film. Technically, it works the same way as its predecessors from the 60s: without manual settings and a detachable lens. The manufacturer has revealed all the model’s specs and announced the start of its sales.
The new Pentax 17 is the first Pentax camera to be released in the world.
The Pentax 17 — is a semi-format model designed for amateur photography. It cuts the price of the basic consumable in half at the expense of some loss in picture quality — one standard reel holds 72 photos, rather than 36 like conventional cameras. Like the classic cameras, the new model uses a manual film winding mechanism.
The camera has minimal settings: there’s no autofocus (there are only six ready-made focal length presets ranging from 0.24 meters in macro mode to infinity) and no exposure settings (only compensation). However, Bulb mode (open shutter while holding down the shutter release button) and slow shutter speeds are supported.
The lens can’t be replaced: it comes standard with a 25mm lens with an aperture of f/3.5 and nine blades. It’s the first Pentax camera to be created as part of the Film Camera Project program, which incorporates feedback from brand advocates.

The Pentax 17 will go on sale later this month, with a price of $499 (41 230 rubles).
