The developers claim that this is achieved by categorizing and storing data in specially allocated zones according to its type. This allows programs to access data more quickly.

The company also claims that compared to UFS (revision unspecified), the new chips deliver up to 45% faster application startup and up to 40% faster cell life. Mass production of Zoned UFS 4.0 drives will begin in the third quarter of this year.
