All new iOS 18.2 Beta features: Apple Intelligence, advanced customizations, and new features
By ForGeeks iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 are now available to developers and public beta participants in preparation for official release in December. This update offers a number of new Apple Intelligence features, such as Genmoji and Image Playground, as well as a host of improvements and additions for users across all devices.
Apple Intelligence: launch of promised features
iOS 18.2 includes several powerful Apple Intelligence features:
- Image Playground – allows you to create stylized images based on your photos, and integrates with the Messages app.
- Image Wand – a tool for adding images to notes; on iPad, it can be used with Apple Pencil to transform sketches into more precise drawings.
- Genmoji – A feature for creating custom emoji. Available only on devices with iOS 18.2.
- Siri ChatGPT – You can now redirect Siri queries to ChatGPT for answers and image generation. Siri with ChatGPT integration can also provide on-screen responses.

- Visual Intelligence – A feature to recognize objects and locations around you on the iPhone 16. This feature can be accessed by pressing the camera button.
- Rewrite Writing Tools – an update to the text rewriting tool that allows you to choose styles and tones to generate text.

Improvements for Apple Arcade
The Apple Arcade section of the App Store adds the ability to turn off game previews and select filters for searches.
Organize emails in Mail
New categories have been added to Mail, allowing users to sort through important emails, offers, promotional emails, and transactional emails. All emails from the same sender are now combined into a common thread.
Updates for Voice Memos and Find My
- Voice Memos now support overlaying two tracks on top of each other.
- Find My adds the ability to share an item’s location with “airlines or trusted parties” by creating temporary location tracking links.

Changes for the European Union
- In iOS 18.2, EU users can now delete built-in apps like the App Store and Safari.
- In iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 requires users to select a default browser when opening Safari, which complies with the European Digital Markets Act.
New default app settings
The Settings app has a new “Default Apps” section where you can manage settings for mail, messages, calls, browser, and keyboard.
Volume Limit
In the Sound and Haptic Sensations section, a “Limit Maximum Volume” setting has been added to control the volume of iPhone’s speakers.
Control Center and Siri
In Control Center, you can now quickly activate the “Write for Siri” feature.
Camera settings for iPhone 16
The iPhone 16’s camera has new settings for locking AE and autofocus, as well as adjusting the speed of double-tapping the camera control button.
Additional features in Safari
A new “Unsafe Connection Warning” toggle has been added to Safari’s settings, which alerts you to unsafe websites. It’s also added options for importing and exporting data and managing browsing history. And downloads are now shown via Live Activities on a locked screen.

Updates for Apple Music, Podcasts, and Apple News+
Apple Music now shows the disk number in some albums. In iOS 18.2, you’ll be able to select categories in the Podcasts app, as well as browse categories in the library to navigate shows and episodes in a new way. Daily Sudoku puzzles have been added to Apple News+ (the service isn’t available in Russia).
