Audio book summaries are now available on Spotify
Spotify has begun testing a new feature that will help users get back to listening to abandoned audiobooks faster. The streaming service is rolling out a system of short retellings that can summarize the story up to where the listener left off.
The feature will become available after a user has listened to 15 to 20 minutes of a book. The retelling will automatically update as it progresses, without revealing further events and keeping the story intriguing. This feature will allow listeners to refresh their memory of the story without having to start the book over again.

The feature is powered by artificial intelligence, but Spotify emphasized that it will not use author texts to train language models or create synthesized voices based on voice actors.
For now, the short retellings are only available on Spotify’s iOS app and cover a limited number of English-language works. The company plans to expand support and add more content in the future.
