The first portable speaker with Alice – Yandex Station Street – has gone on sale
By ForGeeks Yandex has started selling Station Street, the first portable speaker with voice assistant Alice on the Russian market. The device can fully work outside the home, supports dust and moisture protection, is available in black and green colors and costs 14,990 rubles.
Street Station is easy to take with you wherever you go, whether it’s for a walk, a trip, a workout, or a picnic. When connected to a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, it plays music, searches the web, sets timers, and more. Plus, the speaker can dialog about any topic, just like Yandex’s stationary models.
Even without internet, the Station remains useful. When you pair the speaker with your smartphone via Bluetooth, you can listen to preloaded tracks or entire playlists from any music app. Voice control still works. To change tracks, change volume or stop playback, simply speak a command, such as “further”, “quieter” or “stop”. Quick voice commands without a network connection – an exclusive Yandex development for portable speakers.
The sound in Station Street is provided by a system of two speakers and two passive radiators totaling 30 watts. The acoustics are configured for outdoor use, but are also adaptable for indoor use. Built-in microphones analyze sound reflections from surfaces and determine whether the speaker is in an open space or in a room. Based on this, the appropriate sound mode is automatically selected. If you prefer, you can manually select Street or Indoor mode in the Home with Alice app and further adjust the equalizer.
The model features a “Play Everywhere” feature. It’s perfect for large spaces, like listening to the same playlist from two Street Stations located in different parts of a sports field or summer cottage. To do this, just connect both speakers to the same account and access point, and then say: “Alice, play everywhere.”
The speaker can play music for up to 12 hours straight – both via Bluetooth and when connected to Wi-Fi via a mobile hotspot. That’s enough power for a full day out of the house. You can check the charge level visually via the indicator on the case, in the app, or by voice command. Alice tells you not only the percentage of charge, but also the remaining battery life in hours.
The speaker’s enclosure is IP67 dust and water resistant. That means no dust particles can get inside, and the Station itself can withstand brief immersion in water. If moisture gets into the connectors, Alice will remind you to dry the device. A sturdy removable strap is provided for easy carrying. You can hold the speaker in your hand, hang it on your backpack or put it next to you while playing sports. It’s color-coordinated to keep it looking neat even when you’re active.
Street Station is available to buy now from the official Alice store. In a week, the speaker will be available at major federal retailers, both offline and online.
