The new Atom has learned how to prevent driver error

The Russian electric car “Atom” has received the ADAS driver assistance system, which, according to the developers’ estimation, can prevent up to 80% of road accidents arising due to human errors. Alexander Kostylev, deputy general director of Kama, told about it at the Kazan Digital Week forum.
How the technology works
The system analyzes the traffic situation and takes action to prevent a collision if a collision is threatened. “If there is a risk of an accident ahead, the car will try to minimize the likelihood of an incident as much as possible. As the creators of ADAS point out, eight out of ten accidents caused by the driver will be eliminated. The car thinks for the driver,” Kostylev explained.

At the same time, he clarified: the technology is not omnipotent and cannot prevent accidents caused by the violations of other road users.
Service integration and additional features
The electric car will be able to transmit information about incidents, including accidents, to the management systems of taxi fleets and carshare operators. The capability depends on the extent to which the services integrate this feature into their platforms.
The technical part is already in place. In addition, all Atoms will be equipped with an SOS button, which will allow them to call emergency services in critical situations.
