Russia may cancel moratorium on mandatory installation of ERA-GLONASS

The government has prepared a draft decree providing for the abolition of the moratorium on the mandatory installation of the ERA-GLONASS module on cars imported from abroad by individuals. If approved, the document will come into force from April 1, 2026. This is reported by Telegram channel Autopoint.
The bill proposes to terminate the temporary relaxation that allowed cars imported for personal use to be registered without a device for calling emergency services connected to the ERA-GLONASS system. After the decree enters into force, the presence of the module will again become a mandatory condition for the registration of such vehicles.
I am talking about cars and other vehicles which individuals import into Russia on their own. The installation of ERA-GLONASS will be required before registration procedures are completed.
