Google and MediaTek collaborate on processors for artificial intelligence data centers

Google and MediaTek are joining forces to design and manufacture processors designed for data centers that specialize in learning and running artificial intelligence algorithms.

This information is reported by the Taiwan edition of the Economic Daily News. The processor will be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 5nm process technology and will feature Google’s Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) chip, known specifically designed for machine learning. MediaTek will also introduce its SerDes solution, which provides high-speed data transfer between components. Mass production of the processor is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2024.

But a MediaTek spokesperson said the information in the Economic Daily News report was untrue and based on speculation.
