AtomSkills 2023 will be the first competition in mathematical modeling
By ForGeeks The competitions in the competence of “Mathematical Modeling” are held for the first time as part of the VIII Industry-specific professional championship of the State Corporation Rosatom AtomSkills-2023, which began on June 16 in Yekaterinburg.
The participants of the tournament demonstrate their skills in team competitions. Nine teams representing nuclear industry enterprises and Rosatom-supporting higher education institution take part in the first professional competition in mathematical modeling: GSPI, Atomenergoproekt, National Research Nuclear University MEPHI (two teams, including a team of students from Bolivia), Rosatom company – digital product developer Logos (two teams), Gidropress, Afrikantov OKBM, AAEM. The teams were offered an engineering problem, the solution of which includes research and analysis of the presented design, solution of the set thermal-hydraulic and strength problem, analysis of the obtained results and development of presentation documentation.
Mathematical modeling and ability to apply it to solve practical engineering problems while making design decisions and justifying modes of equipment operation – an indispensable competence for Rosatom today, said Dmitry Fomichev, Director of Mathematical Modeling of Rosatom State Corporation, the main industry expert of the competence:

“In the list of technological areas that Rosatom needs today, mathematical modeling and engineering data analysis occupies one of the top lines. A huge layer of projects implemented in ROSATOM requires more than just the skills to use Russian CAE systems, which are replacing foreign ones. It is very important to be able to apply their knowledge in practice when solving real technological tasks. And at AtomSkills-2023 the participants will have an excellent opportunity to demonstrate all their competencies and skills in mathematical modeling.

Rosatom’s flagship product in the field of mathematical modeling is Logos (related to the industrial software class SAE). Today the package includes five program modules: “Logos Aero-Hydro — for modeling aero-, hydro- gas-dynamic processes, Logos Heat — — for modeling heat transfer, phase transitions and radiation heat exchange, Logos Strength – for solving problems in the field of continuum mechanics, Logos Hydrogeology – for modeling ecological processes in a complex geological medium, Logos Platform — for the integration of single platform of Logos modules and third-party (proprietary) SAE class software.
Partners of the competition in competency “Mathematical modeling” were: Rosatom represented by the company-developer of the package of engineering modeling programs Logos, JSC ASCON (license for the CAD system KOMPAS-3D), JSC Top Systems (license for the CAD system T-FLEX CAD), LLC Rusatom — Digital Solutions, PE Tsifrum, Community of mathematical modeling.

AtomSkills Industry Skills Championships are a tool for development of professional environment, facilitating exchange of knowledge and experience between generations as well as uniting specialists, students and schoolchildren into a single ecosystem of training and development of workers and engineering personnel in Russia.
