AvtoVAZ is developing a station wagon on the Datsun platform with Lada Vesta parts

According to information received from insider KhaDm and confirmed by Avtograd, AvtoVAZ is developing a station wagon based on the Datsun platform.
The project reportedly utilizes existing body elements, but requires a new roof and side panel design. An economic analysis is currently underway to determine the profitability of this project for the company. If the development goes ahead, it is planned to use reinforced rear beams with bearings similar to those used in the Lada Vesta.

“They are calculating whether it will be profitable for the plant or not. In chassis production they will assemble prototype rear beams, they are reinforced and there is a Vesta rear bearing. It is not a fact that this project will be brought to the assembly line, but there are moves on it” — reports the Avtograd publishing house.
The author of the Avtograd page, known for his reliable information about AvtoVAZ models, also reported his years of experience working at the plant, starting in 1988. He witnessed the production of models like the right-hand-drive Eights and Nines, as well as Zhiguli cars with Canadian-made bumpers.
