According to calculations, the last chance for life on Earth will end in about year 1,000,002,021. The reason is the inevitable evolution of the Sun. As it ages, it will become hotter, increase in size, and literally burn the surface of the planet. Temperatures will become so extreme that even microorganisms resistant to radiation and boiling water will not survive.

For humanity, things are much sadder. As the Sun heats up:
- The atmosphere will change dramatically – oxygen levels will drop
- Global temperature will rise
- Air quality will deteriorate
- The impact of solar storms and coronal mass ejections on the Earth’s magnetic field will increase
All of these effects have already begun to be felt. Solar storms are increasing in intensity, and global warming – caused by human activity – is only accelerating the process. The study suggests that conditions on the planet will become uninhabitable for human life long before the «cosmic end date».

Scientists emphasize: we’re not talking about a sudden catastrophe, but rather a slow, irreversible deterioration of conditions. But even if it takes hundreds of millions of years, we need to prepare now.

- Colonization of other planets, primarily Mars
- Technologies for terraforming and environmental control
