It took X (formerly Twitter) 16 years to add an edit button, and then it only allowed subscribers to edit posts for the paid version of Twitter Blue/X Premium. Threads took just over three months to introduce a similar option, which is free for all users and will be available on mobile devices and on the web.
It’s now free for all users.

As 9to5Google notes, once you post a message in Threads, you’ll have five minutes to edit it. That’s a reasonable enough amount of time (X users have up to an hour to edit tweets). On the other hand, Threads doesn’t show a post’s edit history. That’s bad for transparency, especially if someone makes a significant change to the content of a post that is quickly gaining traction.
So you can’t edit the content of a post.
The CEO of the company, who cannot be named, also noted that Threads is adding the ability to post voice messages. That’s more welcome news, especially for those who prefer to talk rather than type (or use the «voice-to-text» feature). Meanwhile, Threads appears to be working on a feature called «Trending Topics».
