Platform X will add support for 4K video downloads for premium subscribers

Social network X (formerly Twitter) continues to evolve its video format: select content creators can now upload videos in 4K resolution. The innovation is aimed at increasing user engagement and competing with YouTube and Vimeo.

According to an official post by X’s engineering team, the ability to upload videos in 4K will soon be available to all premium subscribers. Currently, paid users can upload videos in 1080p, up to 8GB in size and up to three hours long. However, with the introduction of 4K support, these limits may be revised.

After buying the platform, Ilon Musk has been actively promoting the video format as a key focus. Video upload limits are gradually increasing, and the focus on exclusive video content is becoming more prominent.

Earlier this year, X also introduced a separate vertical video feed and added quick access to it on the homepage of mobile apps. This decision may be related to the uncertainty surrounding the possible banning of TikTok in the U.S. – X is trying to fill a vacated niche in the short-form video market.
