Xiaomi is preparing to release a three-piece foldable smartphone

Triple folding phones could become a new trend in the smartphone industry in the coming years. TCL unveiled the world’s first functional triple-section foldable phone at Society for Information Display (SID) 2024 in May, though it’s not yet available for purchase. According to rumors, it is expected that Huawei’s upcoming tri-section device could be the world’s first commercially available tri-section phone. Recent reports suggest that Xiaomi too may soon release its own tri-section smartphone.

It is speculated that Xiaomi’s three-section phone could be officially unveiled in 2025. The device is likely to feature the HyperOS 2.0 operating system, a camera from Leica and a flagship Snapdragon chipset.
At the moment, Xiaomi offers two types of foldable phones. The Mix Fold 4, which was unveiled last month, is the company’s fourth generation of horizontally foldable smartphones. At the same time, the Mix Flip, which debuted alongside the Mix Fold 4, is the company’s first phone with a vertically foldable screen.

According to reports, Huawei’s three-section phone could be launched in China as early as September. The submitted image, which shows Huawei’s head of consumer business, Yu Richard, using the alleged device, shows what it looks like when folded. The device is expected to have a dual hinge system, allowing it to fold out and offer a huge screen space of around 10 inches. The inner screen is said to have a camera hole in the top left corner.
