Xiaomi 17 will be released on September 25: first smartphones powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Xiaomi has officially confirmed the date of presentation of the Xiaomi 17 lineup. The company will unveil the new products on September 25 in China, this Thursday. Along with the smartphones, the new generation of Xiaomi Pad 8 tablets will also debut.
The series will include three models: the basic Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. They will all be the first devices powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which Qualcomm is expected to unveil today.
The company is talking sparingly about the specs so far, but is actively drumming up interest. Xiaomi is calling the Xiaomi 17 its «most powerful standard flagship», the Xiaomi 17 Pro — «best compact camera phone» and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max — «the pinnacle of the company’s mobile photography technology»

What to expect
The Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro will get 6.3-inch OLED displays with ultra-thin bezels. The Pro Max will see the diagonal grow to 6.8 inches. All three models will feature OLED screens with 2K resolution.
Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max will also get a second screen on the back that will show notifications, time, support multitasking, AI interaction and work with other devices.
Batteries are promised to be considerable: 7,000 mAh in the Xiaomi 17, 6,300 mAh with wireless charging support in the 17 Pro and up to 7,500 mAh in the Pro Max.
The cameras in the 17 Pro and Pro Max will feature a triple 50MP module: a SmartSens 590 main sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a periscope telephoto with macro support. All models will getLeica optimization and a 50MP front-facing camera with autofocus.
