Xiaomi 18 Pro may debut dual 200MP cameras

The Xiaomi 18 lineup is set to launch this year, reportedly featuring a base model alongside the Xiaomi 18 Pro. While official details remain scarce, a fresh leak hints at a major camera upgrade – potentially delivering a dual 200-megapixel setup.

Chinese insider Digital Chat Station revealed that an upcoming compact flagship with a 6.3-inch display will pack two rear cameras, each boasting 200MP. Although Xiaomi 18 isn’t explicitly named in the leak, conversations under the post strongly suggest it’s the Xiaomi 18 Pro.

For context, the Xiaomi 17 series featured both standard and Pro models with 6.3-inch screens, but only the Pro variant received the advanced camera hardware. It looks like Xiaomi will stick to this pattern for the new generation, with the possibility that the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could get a similar camera boost.

The rumor mill suggests Xiaomi will pair a 200MP main sensor with a 200MP periscope telephoto lens – following in the footsteps of what’s expected for the vivo X300 Ultra and Oppo Find X9s. If true, this would make the Xiaomi 18 Pro one of the boldest cameraphones on the market.

Additionally, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max could retain the rear auxiliary display and familiar design seen in the previous generation. Even the base Xiaomi 18 might see a notable upgrade with a periscope telephoto lens, marking a significant improvement for the “junior” model.

All of this remains in the rumor stage for now, but if confirmed, the Xiaomi 18 series could raise the bar for mobile photography.
