Vivo X Fold 5 prepared for the debut: new details

The upcoming Vivo X Fold 5 foldable phone Vivo X Fold 5 has been getting closer to its official debut, with the company’s CEO Han Boxiao regularly sharing new details about it. In a fresh post on Weibo, the Vivo product manager published a close-up image of the Vivo X Fold 5’s internal screen, giving enthusiasts a clearer picture of the display’s capabilities.
Boxiao said the new foldable phone features high-quality LTPO 8T panels on both the internal and external screens. These displays offer a smooth adaptive refresh rate, ensuring soft scrolling and excellent performance in gaming and content viewing. The phone features high pixel density and resolution for bright and clear images.
One of the key improvements is localized peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits, making the display easy to read even in bright sunlight. This is complemented by a high-frequency PWM brightness controller that works in tandem with TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0 certification to ensure eye safety during prolonged use. Both screens have been customized with Zeiss Master Color technology, which guarantees accurate and rich color reproduction.

A small but important design change is noticeable in the published image, with a new physical button on the left edge. It replaces the previously used notification slider in the X Fold 3 series. The exact purpose of the button is not yet known – it may be a programmable key or a shortcut to certain functions.
Vivo hasn’t revealed all the technical details about the Vivo X Fold 5 yet. All we know is that it will be a very rugged foldable smartphone that can operate effectively in temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius and is dust and water resistant to IP5X and IPX9 standards.
