Nothing’s “budget” smartphones will have built-in advertising

However, owners of the brand’s more affordable models should get ready for a change. The company has found a way to monetize budget gadgets, which may affect user experience. In particular, the Nothing Phone (3a), and possibly other models, will introduce the Lock Glimpse feature. It will automatically change the wallpaper on the lock screen, including ad images. The devices will also come with pre-installed apps from partners. The innovation is announced for the (3a) lineup for now, but the company plans to extend the monetization practice to all but the flagship models. Nothing’s representatives revealed the details of how Lock Glimpse works: Nothing emphasizes that control over the advertising features remains with the user, who will be able to disable them at will. More details will be revealed on October 29 at the Phone (3a) Lite launch event.
