Unihertz introduced Titan 2 smartphone with QWERTY keyboard

Unihertz is preparing to launch the new Titan 2 on Kickstarter, a sequel to its BlackBerry Passport-inspired Titan smartphone. The campaign is expected to launch as early as June.
The device is designed for fans of physical keyboards
The first Titan came out in 2019 and featured a square screen with a resolution of 1440×1440 pixels and a large physical keyboard – like the BlackBerry Passport. Despite the outdated specs, the model remains popular among fans of button devices.

The new version – the Titan 2 – is supposed to fix the technical shortcomings of the original. At this point, only preliminary details are known: the physical keyboard resembles a wide version of the keys from the BlackBerry KEYone, and the screen remains large enough to reference the Passport’s design.

The first model raised more than $700,000
In 2019, Unihertz planned to raise $100,000 for the release of the original Titan, but the campaign raised more than $700,000. It demonstrated the sustained interest in smartphones with physical keys – especially among BlackBerry fans.

Information about the technical specifications of the Titan 2 has not been revealed yet. It is rumored that the device will get updated stuffing and a modern version of Android. Unihertz representatives have yet to comment on the details, but the project’s Kickstarter page is expected to launch in the coming days.
Titan remains popular years later
The BlackBerry Passport, which the Titan is aimed at, came out in 2014 and became iconic thanks to its unusual form factor, square screen and hybrid keyboard. The Silver Edition, with an updated keyboard and metal frame, was especially popular. Even after almost 10 years, it’s still being actively bought on eBay and other sites.

If the Titan 2 retains the Passport’s best features and offers up-to-date specs, it could appeal not only to fans of nostalgic devices, but also to fans of out-of-the-box solutions in mobile tech.
