According to him, the release could take place between September 24 and 26. Thus, the manufacturer seems to be shifting the release schedule of the flagships – last year, the Xiaomi 15 was unveiled only in October.

According to discussions under the Digital Chat Station post on Weibo, the release could take place on September 25, Thursday. The lineup, according to preliminary reports, will include three models: the Xiaomi 16, Xiaomi 16 Pro and Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini (the name is tentative).

Characteristics and software

The smartphone series will be the first to get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (also known as Snapdragon 8 Elite 2) processor. All devices will run on a stable version of HyperOS 3.

The developers promise efficiency gains of up to 10 percent and reduced CPU overhead due to faster code compilation. In tests, the system can handle running 22 applications in a row in floating windows without noticeable lag.
