Renderings have confirmed the major camera change of Xiaomi 17 Ultra
New images of the Photography Kit case for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra have confirmed the flagship’s move to a triple camera module. The smartphone, which will be the concluding device in the Xiaomi 17 lineup, is already undergoing local testing in India and is set to be released in two versions.
In the published renders, the Photography Kit is seen in two colors – beige and black. The main detail is the smartphone’s camera unit. Despite the four cutouts, there are three lenses inside. This is different from last year’s Xiaomi 15 Ultra with its quad-camera, but the leak explains the configuration changes.
What’s changing in the Xiaomi 17 Ultra
Xiaomi is ditching the 50MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom and instead using a more advanced, high-resolution sensor. According to the latest details, the triple camera includes:
- 50MP OmniVision OVX10500U is the main camera;
- 200 MP Samsung S5KHPE – telephoto lens;
- 50 MP OmniVision OV50M or Samsung S5KJN5 – ultra-wide module;
The company relies on larger and more technologically advanced sensors, so the switch from four cameras to three doesn’t seem like a deterioration – the total hardware becomes more powerful.

The front camera, according to sources, will feature a 50MP OmniVision OV50ME module.
Accessories and release dates
The Photography Kit renders also show a textured removable grip with a mechanical release button – a concept echoed in the accessories for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to premiere in China in December or early January. The global launch should follow shortly after the announcement of the Xiaomi 17 series.
