Galaxy A37 spotted in Geekbench: possible chipset upgrade surprised

A Geekbench database has spotted an entry purportedly related to the Samsung Galaxy A37. The leak hints at an out-of-the-box processor choice for the model, which is due out in the spring of 2026.

The smartphone is being tested with Android 16 and has been given 6GB of RAM – no surprises. The surprise is different: the system lists an Exynos 1480 with Xclipse 530 graphics. This is the same chip used in the Galaxy A55 in early 2024, as well as the Galaxy M56. Amid expectations of a move to the Exynos 1580, this choice seems like a non-obvious one.

Chipset and comparison with the previous generation

In tests, the Exynos 1480 shows an edge over the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 that’s in the Galaxy A36. However, there’s less certainty on efficiency and long-term performance: previous reviews haven’t always recorded meaningful gains.

And it’s a good bet that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is the one that’s in the Galaxy A36.

At the same time, the company has already used previous solutions in new models more than once, as it was the case with Exynos 1280 in Galaxy A26 and A35. Therefore, the redistribution of processors within the lineup can’t be called unexpected.

Plans for the Galaxy A lineup

Samsung is expected to release three models in 2026: the A27, A37, and A57. A recent leak indicated that the Galaxy A57 will get the more advanced Exynos 1680, against which the A37 chipset looks more modest.

It’s worth considering the possibility of a mistake: previously “Galaxy A77” appeared in Geekbench, which was later recognized as a fake. Confirmation of all specs will only come after the official announcement.

If the leak is accurate, Samsung’s strategy for 2026 may be focused on lowering the production costs of mid-range models. Whether that helps keep the price of the Galaxy A37 down or makes it weaker than the A36 will become clear after release.
