Nokia is looking for a new partner to launch smartphones

Nokia and HMD Global began the separation process back last year. This included removing Nokia-branded phones from hmd.com and replacing most models with HMD-branded devices. However, there is a chance that the Nokia brand will remain in the mobile world – if the Finnish company finds a new partner.
On the Nokia sabreddit, a Nokia community representative said that Nokia is open to working with a “major mobile device manufacturer.” Of course, the social media manager’s words aren’t an official statement, and Reddit isn’t the most appropriate place to look for smartphone OEMs.

Nokia has previously licensed its brand in different segments. For example:
- Streamview produced televisions,
- RichGo – headphones and accessories for smartphones,
- OFF Global – laptops.
In the meantime, things aren’t going well for HMD, with the company recently announcing it was scaling back its US operations. Nokia itself has also faced negative rumors – last year there were reports that Samsung was reportedly interested in buying Nokia’s networking business. The Finns quickly denied the rumors, and there have been no new statements on the subject since.
Nokia’s financial results for the second quarter of 2025 will be released on Thursday. In the first quarter, the company reported an operating profit of 156 million euros on revenue of 4.39 billion euros.
