Nio announced a smartphone with car integration and three 50MP cameras

Nio announced its first phone today at an event in China. The Chinese electric car maker has packed the phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and three 50MP cameras on the back. Nio Phone can also be placed in a dedicated spot in the ES8 car, where it will automatically turn into a control screen for music, ambient lighting, and more. The destination can be pre-set via a dedicated navigation app. In addition, the phone can use the cameras around the car to record, edit and share video.
Nio Phone can also connect to the car as an external screen on which a second app can run in parallel. The large screen can be used for video calls and even gaming. The phone itself has a Sky UI, which includes a widget for easy access to Nio Link.

In conjunction with the enhanced in-car access, Nio said the phone will have stronger malware protection measures and will have strong encryption protection for data both on the device and in the cloud. The phone features a 5200 mAh battery with support for 66W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging, as well as reverse wireless charging. The device is also IP68-certified.
