iPhone 17 Air: leaked mockup reveals ultra-thin design

The iPhone 17 is still a few months away from its unveiling, but mockups of future models are already actively appearing online. The latest one shows off an updated design that appears to be getting closer and closer to the final look.

The fresh images and video come from AppleTrack’s YouTube channel, where blogger Sam Call compared several models from the lineup: the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. The mockups look more realistic than previous versions – even the cameras now have coloring that mimics real lenses, and the body itself doesn’t look plastic and rough.

The iPhone 17 Air, the thinnest model in Apple’s history, is getting special attention. According to rumors, the case may be just 5.6mm thick at its thinnest point. However, this slimness raises concerns about the device’s durability and battery life.

The core models (iPhone 17 and Pro versions) continue to retain recognizable features, but they’ve also got a notable redesign of the camera unit. It’s closer to the Google Pixel style, thanks to a horizontal «camera bar» at the top of the case. Despite this, the overall style still retains Apple’s signature traits.

One of the main issues with the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air could be the battery. Previously, it was reported that the battery capacity was too modest, but recent leaks suggest that Apple has found a way to minimize this drawback.

At the time of release, which is expected in September, the iPhone 17 will compete with the Galaxy S25 Edge, another ultra-thin smartphone already teasered by Samsung. Both devices are expected to be true showcases of engineering advancements in the premium segment.
