Huawei Mate 60: leaked renders

A couple of days ago, information about the Huawei Mate 60’s metal mid-frame leaked, revealing that the phone will have a round camera island. Now Digital Chat Station has shared a render of the phone that gives us a better look at that island — it reminds us of the Mate 40 series, except that the circle is larger.
And now we’ve seen a render of the phone that gives us a better look at that island.
The image shows three cameras, but all we know so far is that Huawei is using new sensors and a periscopic lens optimized for low-light photography. In addition, the XMAGE labeling indicates that image processing will be done in-house by the company.

There’s no render at the front, unfortunately. According to DCS, the Mate 60 will feature a 6.7-inch OLED display with «1.5K» resolution (which should match the 1224×2700 resolution of the Mate 50).

From the previous leak, we know that Huawei is bringing back the tablet-shaped perforation hole, similar to the one used back in the P40 series in 2020. However, this time it will be centered, and the company may take inspiration from Apple’s Dynamic Island in designing the UI. This tablet will house both a selfie camera and a 3D depth sensor, as Huawei — is one of the few who still believe in face-scanning biometrics.
Huawei’s new P40 series will also have a 3D depth sensor, as Huawei — is one of the few who still believe in face-scanning biometrics.
The company is no longer sticking to a strict timeline for the release of its flagships, so we’re left guessing when the Mate 60 will come out. There are some interesting reports that the company may ditch the 4G-only versions of Snapdragon and use an in-house-made chipset for the first time in a long time (aside from the occasional phone with the Kirin 710A, there hasn’t been much movement on that front in the last couple of years).
