Honor is preparing a compact flagship Magic 8 mini
By ForGeeks The trend for smaller flagships is gaining momentum among Chinese brands. After the release of the Oppo Find X8s, vivo X200 Pro mini and OnePlus 13T, Honor is now set to enter the compact segment with its new Magic 8 series.
Three models in the lineup, including the “mini”
According to the latest leaks, three smartphones are expected in the Magic 8 lineup: the basic Magic 8, the more advanced Magic 8 Pro, and the compact Magic 8 mini. The latter will reportedly get a 6.3-inch display – noticeably smaller than the base version’s 6.58-inch screen and the Pro model’s 6.7-inch display.
Of course, 6.3 inches is far from a record for compactness. It brings to mind true miniature devices like the iPhone 13 mini (5.4″) or ASUS Zenfone 10 (5.9″), but in today’s realities, even that reduction looks significant. Especially if you compare it to other Chinese flagships, where screens of 6.7 inches or more have become the standard.
Processors and possible release acceleration
There’s not much information on specs yet. Supposedly, the Magic 8 mini will get the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip, while the Magic 8 Pro will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is expected to be announced in September.
This could also affect the release dates of the entire lineup. While Honor used to release the Magic series in October-November, the Magic 8 Pro could be unveiled as early as early fall to take advantage of the early launch of Qualcomm’s new processor.
Honor’s Magic 8 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
Cameras: Pro version with photo focus
The Magic 8 Pro promises to be particularly interesting for mobile photography enthusiasts. According to rumors, the smartphone will be equipped with a triple camera: a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 200MP periscopic camera. Such a set-up indicates a clear emphasis on the device’s photo capabilities.
All in all, the Magic 8 mini could be a great option for those who are tired of huge smartphones but aren’t willing to sacrifice power.
