Google presented Pixel 7a with Tensor G2

Google introduced the Pixel 7a with a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The resolution is FHD+, and you get Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Speaking of protection, the phone is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance. It has a metal frame and a plastic back – Google notes that recycled aluminum, glass and plastic were used to create the phone. Available colors are Charcoal, Sea and Snow.

Another major update is the move to the Tensor G2 chipset, which is now paired with 8GB of LPDDR RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This is the same configuration as the Pixel 7, so the phone will be just as fast on a variety of computing tasks. Google promises five years of security updates.

The device gets Super Res Zoom (up to 8x), which is provided by a new 64-megapixel camera (instead of a 12-megapixel camera). This 1/1.73-inch Quad Bayer sensor is not as big as the Pixel 7 (50MP 1/1.31 inch), so its pixels are only 0.8 microns before binning. It does, however, have OIS.

The ultra-wide-angle camera has a 13-megapixel sensor (1.12µm) and a 120° f/2.2 lens with Dual Pixel autofocus. The front camera has also been increased to 13 MP (1.12 μm) with a 95 ° (f / 2.2) fixed focus lens. The rear camera can record 5K video at up to 60 frames per second and the front camera can record 4K video at 30 frames per second.

Pixel 7a supports 5G varieties below 6 GHz and millimeter band, though only models for certain regions will support millimeter band. This is a dual-SIM device: one physical nano-SIM and one eSIM.

The 7a is powered by a 4,385mAh battery that supports up to 18W of wired charging, and for the first time, wireless charging is available on the phone — also at 18W. Note that the port on the bottom is USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, but the retail package only comes with a USB C-to-C cable with USB 2.0 wiring.
