Galaxy S22+ running One UI 7 demonstrates the absence of key artificial intelligence features

After a brief pause since its initial release on April 7, Samsung has resumed updating One UI 7 for compatible devices. Last year’s flagships will be the first to receive the update, with other compatible devices to follow in the coming weeks.
The Galaxy S22 will also get One UI 7. However, it was expected that some features might not be available on older devices. Now a video has emerged showing that One UI 7 on the Galaxy S22 won’t bring many of the new artificial intelligence (AI) features that were introduced in the Galaxy S25 series, where One UI 7 was installed initially.

Galaxy S22 doesn’t get new AI features with One UI 7
A video was posted on Reddit showing One UI 7 running on the Galaxy S22+ via Remote Test Lab, an emulator for developers to test apps on simulated Samsung devices. Someone was able to run One UI 7 on the Galaxy S22+.
The post mentions that none of the new Galaxy AI features introduced in the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be available on that device. We already know that the Now Brief feature will be exclusive to this year’s flagship, but even Now Bar seems to have been simplified for the older flagship.
New Galaxy AI features in the Galaxy S25 include Audio Eraser, which lets you remove six types of noise and audio from video. Drawing Assist has a new interface with two new generative drawing styles. Now Brief provides users with relevant information and a summary of their day at different times. A few other minor AI features are also missing.
Samsung introduced the Now Bar with One UI 7, a dynamic UI element that displays information and controls based on the user’s actions on the device. A video of One UI 7 on the Galaxy S22+ gives the impression that the Now Bar only provides media playback controls.
So, Galaxy S22 owners shouldn’t expect significant innovations in AI features; they’ll only get cosmetic updates from One UI 7. As for when the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S22 will be released, according to a recent roadmap from Samsung, the series will receive the update next month.
