These Xiaomi smartphones will get four Android updates

The Chinese company has expanded its software support program: now four versions of Android will get not only flagships, but also some mid-range models.
Xiaomi has officially confirmed that new Xiaomi, Poco and Redmi-branded smartphones and tablets will receive up to four major Android/HyperOS updates and up to six years of security updates. This is reported by Gizmochina with reference to the manufacturer’s press service.
Which devices will get four major Android updates
- Xiaomi 15
- Xiaomi 15 Ultra
- Xiaomi 14
- Xiaomi 14 Pro
- Xiaomi 14 Ultra
- Xiaomi 14T
- Xiaomi 14T Pro
- Xiaomi Mix Flip
- Xiaomi Pad 7
- Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro
- Poco F7
- Poco F7 Pro
- Poco F7 Ultra
- Redmi Note 14 4G
So if, for example, a device came out with Android 15 out of the box, it will be updated up to Android 19.
An unexpected move for the mid-range segment
The addition of the budget Redmi Note 14 4G to the list, which costs less than $200, drew special attention. The more expensive versions – Redmi Note 14 Pro and Note 14 Pro+ – did not receive the extended update program.
Experts note that this could be a strategic move by Xiaomi to win the loyalty of mass users and strengthen its position in the sub-$300 segment.
At the backdrop of competitors’ limitations
The growing interest in alternative messengers and devices in Russia is also due to the actions of regulators. Thus, Roskomnadzor in August, it reported “partial restriction” of voice calls in Telegram and WhatsApp (owned by Meta*, recognized as an extremist organization in Russia). Against this background, the popularity of the new messenger Max, also part of the ecosystem of VK, has increased dramatically: its audience has exceeded 30 million people.
Competing for long-term support
With the new rule, Xiaomi has equaled the offerings of OnePlus and Vivo, but still lags behind the market leaders: Oppo and Motorola are promising up to five Android updates, while Samsung and Google are promising up to seven.
Experts believe that extending the support period will have a positive impact on the company’s reputation, especially among those who choose a smartphone several years down the road.
* Owned by Meta, it is recognized as an extremist organization in Russia and its activities are banned.
