Teamgroup introduced a self-destruct SSD for mission-critical data

Teamgroup has announced the industrial P250Q, a first-of-its-kind SSD with hardware self-destruct feature. The product is targeted at high-security applications ranging from military and industrial automation to AI systems and has already won a computex 2025 award in the Cybersecurity category.

Hardware data destruction with auto-recovery

The main feature of the P250Q is a patented independent data destruction circuit that directly affects the flash IC memory chip. This is paired with intelligent software that automatically resumes erasure in the event of a sudden power failure. This ensures guaranteed and complete erasure of data, including highly sensitive information.

The drive is equipped with a button to activate the erase function and multi-level process indication via LED indicators. This solution allows you to activate the protection quickly and intuitively, even in critical situations.

Characteristics and performance

Teamgroup P250Q supports PCIe Gen4x4 interface and NVMe 1.4 protocol. Claimed read and write speeds of 7,000 MB/s and 5,500 MB/s, respectively, are sufficient for heavy-duty applications.

Additional read and write speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and 5,500 MB/s, respectively.

The device is available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB versions and utilizes reliable 3D TLC NAND memory. Additionally, it utilizes S.M.A.R.T. technology to monitor the health and extend the life of the drive.

Additional S.M.A.R.T. technology to monitor the health and longevity of the drive.

Separate patent for heat-resistant technology

In addition to the P250Q announcement, the company also announced that it has received a U.S. patent for its developed technology for operating SSDs at extremely high temperatures. The solution includes dynamic data rate control in three thermal zones and provides stable operation of the drive at temperatures ranging from 85°C to 105°C.

The P250Q also announced that it has been granted a U.S. patent for its extreme temperature technology.

The SSDs are ideal for systems in electric vehicles, manufacturing equipment and heavy-duty transportation, proving Teamgroup’s technological expertise in the industrial sector.

A Emphasis on Safety and Reliability

Teamgroup emphasizes that the launch of the P250Q and the recognition of innovation in temperature resilience was an important step in the company’s strategy. Going forward, the brand will continue to develop solutions at the intersection of storage, cybersecurity and industrial applications.
