Rumor: Samsung will bring back Exynos for the Galaxy S24 series

A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 FE would use the Exynos 2200, and there was even a Geekbench result that seemed to confirm it. However, some regions (such as the US) will use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead.

There may be more to it than that. Samsung switched exclusively to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy in the S23 generation, and there have been claims that the agreement with Qualcomm will extend to the S24 series as well. While that may be true, Samsung is considering bringing back Exynos for the Galaxy S24 series in some regions, Pocket Lint reports.

Even if the S23 FE uses the old Exynos 2200 for the S22 series, the 2024 flagship should go with the Exynos 2400. The GPU in this chip reportedly has four times more processing units than the Xclipse 920 in the 2200, so the graphics performance should increase significantly.
In addition, in some early benchmarks of the processor, its single-core performance is close to that of SD 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, and its multi-core performance — 20 percent higher. Of course, the Exynos 2400 will have to compete with the 8 Gen 3 chip, so it’s too early to make any predictions.

The final decision is still a few months away, and perhaps Samsung is waiting to see how the Galaxy S23 FE is received before changing course on the all-important Galaxy S24 series.
