Qualcomm and MediaTek accelerate flagship chips: first smartphones could come out ahead of schedule

According to insider Digital Chat Station, the first wave of Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500 smartphones «definitely» will be released in October. However, some brands may release the devices even earlier-as early as late September.

Dimensity 9500: abandoning large-core architecture
MediaTek will change its processor structure:
- In place of all large cores (as in Dimensity 9300/9400), the chip will get a 2+6 cluster.
- The composition will include two Cortex-X930 «Travis» and six Cortex-A730 «Gelas».

The reason for abandoning the previous architecture is still unclear, but it may be due to increased energy efficiency.
