Oakley Meta* Vanguard: smart glasses for athletes with camera and IP67 protection

The Meta* Connect 2025 conference unveiled the Oakley Meta* Vanguard smart glasses designed specifically for active users and athletes. Unlike the earlier Oakley HSTN model, the new Vanguard has serious improvements, including a new camera, longer runtime and waterproofing.
Camera and video features
The main change — moving the camera to the center of the frame, above the bridge of the nose. Now the hat or helmet doesn’t block the frame.
- 12 MP sensor with 122° viewing angle;
- adjustable video stabilization;
- slow motion and hyperlapse modes for dynamic content.
Autonomy and protection

- up to 6 hours of continuous music playback,
- up to 9 hours of mixed usage.
The charging case adds another 36 hours of use. The battery is adapted to hot and cold weather.
Protection complies with IP67 — the glasses can even be submerged in water.
Audio and controls
- The speakers are now 6 dB louder, providing calls and music even with background noise (e.g. on a jet ski);
- the photo and video capture button has been moved to the bottom for easy access;
- there’s a new «action button» that can be assigned to actions: launching a Spotify playlist, activating hyperlapse, calling a surfing report, or recognizing objects with Meta* AI.

Integrations for athletes
- Garmin — display watch data (heart rate, pace, distance);
- Strava — ability to overlay photos and videos from the run on the final statistics.
Price and availability
The glasses are priced at $499. Pre-orders are already available, with official sales starting October 21, 2025.
