Sony will hold a State of Play event in September

Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb revealed during a recent stream that the next PlayStation event, State of Play or possibly a larger Showcase, will take place in late September.

“They’re planning State of Play, or maybe Showcase, but more likely State of Play, for the end of September, or before the end of September. So we’ll get an update from Sony soon,” he noted.

The company has traditionally held September broadcasts since 2019 and has never missed this month. Last year, it was in September that the Ghost of Tsushima sequel called Ghost of Yotei, an add-on for Astro Bot, a remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn, and other projects were unveiled.

The last State of Play release was in June, when 007 First Light, Lumines Arise, and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls were shown. July also saw the release of a separate State of Play dedicated to Ghost of Yotei.

And today, August 19, is Gamescom Opening Night Live, which starts at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. BST and will last about two hours. The organizers promise plenty of announcements and new shows.
