S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl – Major Update 1.2: Improved gameplay and stability

GSC Game World has unveiled an update (version 1.2) for its game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which includes more than 1700 edits and improvements to various elements of the game.

Version 1.2 was released with the following bug fixes
- Artificial Intelligence Behavior: NPCs are now better at looting and shooting, allowing them to efficiently pick up gear from defeated enemies and upgrade to more powerful weapons;
- Stealth mechanics: Adjustments have been made to NPC player detection, greatly improving stealth gameplay;
- Performance Optimization: Crashes, memory leaks, and improved frame rate have been eliminated, leading to a smoother gaming experience;
- Gameplay Balancing: Numerous balance and quest bug fixes have been made, positively impacting both main and side missions;

The update also includes visual improvements such as new flashlight shadows and NPC action animations. Despite favorable reviews, the game has faced criticism since its November 2024 release due to various bugs related to the A-Life 2.0 system, which simulates life in the game world. The developers have promised to continue working on improving the quality of the game after the release of this major update.
